Let's Wok Together

In the lead-up to the May Domestic Employees Celebration on 22 June 2025, we stirred up excitement with a cooking competition, Let’s Wok Together, held on 1 June 2025 at AllSpice Institute.

This MasterChef-style event brought together 25 pairs of Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) and their employers, who teamed up to tackle a mystery box challenge and co-create unique dishes. From bold flavours to creative plating, each team showcased not only their culinary flair but also the trust, teamwork, and mutual respect that define a harmonious home.

Cooking Up Connection

In line with this year’s theme, “Together We Build, Together We Celebrate,” the competition was more than just a culinary contest, it was a celebration of everyday collaboration. As MDWs and employers chopped, stirred, cooked, and plated side by side, they built bridges through shared experiences and laughter.
The kitchen became a space for cultural exchange, where stories were told through food and relationships were strengthened through teamwork. Participants embodied the spirit of partnership, showing that even simple moments, such preparing a meal together, can foster deeper understanding and appreciation.

A Taste of Appreciation

The event also served as a platform to honour the contributions of MDWs, who play an essential role in supporting families across Singapore. By inviting employers to cook alongside their MDWs, it highlighted the importance of mutual empathy and respect in nurturing inclusive and supportive households.

Spotlight on the Finalists

The excitement continued on 22 June, when the Top 5 finalist teams were officially revealed during the May Domestic Employees Celebration. These five pairs impressed judges with their creativity, synergy, and heartfelt stories behind each dish, a true reflection of the event’s spirit.
